My Story
I was stuck in the pain of my affair ending for 3 years. The thoughts of him consumed my daily life. I always wondered if he was thinking about me, and what I could have done differently. Did he miss me, is he moving on with his wife, etc? I felt like I was being pushed towards him by my thoughts. I was always afraid I would give in to the temptation to go back to him. My continual thought was If I saw him I would be like jello and give into him. I had no confidence to stay away. I felt so weak.
The thoughts were endless. I finally hit rock bottom and began to have severe panic attacks from the internal stress and pain. It was at that time I realized that having my affair partner tucked away in a box in my heart was causing me pain and I needed to completely let him go.
I surrendered my mind and heart to Christ and I found healing and peace. I began to implement the practical steps the Lord showed me and after four weeks I was able to say I had not thought about him all day.
It just increased from there and I began to have more good days than bad days. Eventually, I started to feel like me again and I was able to focus on my marriage and being present with my kids.
It was a long road to recovery for me but it doesn't have to be for you.
